Altrenians are a humanoid species native to the planet Altrenia, the third planet of the Wolf 1055 system. They have been members of the Alliance since Annuli 3371 and are widely respected throughout Alliance space for their contributions to science, engineering, agriculture, environmental research, and diplomacy.

By Annuli 3436, Altrenia has been an Alliance member for approximately 65 annuli, making Altrenians a familiar presence aboard Alliance starships, research stations, universities, construction projects, and diplomatic missions.

• Calming Neuropheromone Secretion — Specialized glands within the antennae naturally release a subtle airborne neuropheromone that produces a mild calming effect in most known biological species.

Calming Neuropheromone

The Altrenian calming neuropheromone is believed to have evolved as a natural mechanism for stabilizing family groups and communities during periods of danger or emotional stress.

Rather than influencing thought or removing free will, the neuropheromone gently reduces physiological stress responses in nearby individuals possessing compatible biological receptors. Those affected commonly experience:

The effect is subtle and does not compel agreement or alter a person's decisions.

One common Alliance belief claims that Altrenians are incapable of anger. While their calm demeanor has contributed to this reputation, no scientific evidence has ever supported the claim. Altrenians themselves usually dismiss the idea with quiet amusement.
